about

I wrote the lyrics & then composed the song in early October/late September this year. I think? Time is a blur.

It's about the feeling of losing someone only to find out that they didn't really disappear/you haven't lost them after all.
But it's too late as your brain is a funny organ and has constructed a reality where in fact they have gone, so you can't help but look for them everywhere even though they haven't been lost.

Maybe I'm the only person who does this but I can't help but see one person in particular everywhere I go. It drives me insane, but I can't stop myself from seeing them/looking for them.

lyrics

there’s that face in the crowd
it haunts and moves
and morphs back to nought

if you were never gone
can you ever really be
how can my blind eyes
ever really see you

i look
and i look
and nothing stares back

the faces they turn
and i have to turn back
back away
at the end of the day

there’s that face in the crowd
and it sideeyes at me
and i think for a second

but no it can’t be because
because because

if you were never gone
can you ever really be
how can my blind eyes
ever hope to see
your face

i’m a disgrace
searching trains
and buses
and hotel lobbies
one day one day
i’ll find a new hobby
but not yet
i can’t let go
of the faces in the crowd

about

d0rmi Toronto, Ontario

I've worked as an art model since I was 19.

Now my industry has all but disappeared, so I'm sitting at home, writing electronic music on garageband. Classic manoeuvre.
......
I'm involving my modelling by creating videos to stop myself from going crazy.
Or to document my descent into insanity. Whichever.
